PolyVision believes that sustainability
is an important business practice in today’s global economy. In
line with this belief, we strive to encourage continuous improvement
in all areas of environmental stewardship – responsible use of
raw materials and natural resources, design processes, and operation
of all facilities – to reduce the impact of our activities on the
environment.
PolyVision eVision™ Product
Development Guiding Principles
Our
commitment to excellence in every dimension to protect, replenish, and
restore the communities in which we live and serve has led to the development
of the PolyVision eVision product development guiding principles. Following
these principles, our Production, Supply Chain, and Research & Development
teams continually evaluate alternate resources and process improvements
for our existing products and new products. This cycle of constant improvement
enables PolyVision to capitalize on technology and material efficiency
to reduce our environmental footprint while developing products that
advance human health, social responsibility, and economic success.
PolyVision
World View
PolyVision is conscious of the growing demand for environmentally-friendly
products and vigilantly tracks rules and regulations that apply worldwide.
We believe everyone has a duty to be environmentally responsible; and,
we are dedicated to taking the lead in the development and distribution
of products that comply with both the spirit of the world’s evolving
ecological interests and the requirements of today’s workplace.
PolyVision’s
Environmental Certifications
PolyVision’s e3 environmental ceramicsteel surface
is the industry’s premiere,
ecologically intelligent visual communication surface for whiteboards
and chalkboards and the first and only visual communication surface to
achieve International McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) Cradle
to Cradle™ Silver certification. The launch of the new Cradle to
Cradle certified surface signals another milestone in PolyVision’s
global program to meet or exceed local environmental regulations.
PolyVision
has also earned the first and only U.S. MBDC Cradle to Cradle certifications
for the Premium Whiteboard line and e3 environmental
ceramicsteel surface.
Cradle to Cradle certification focuses on the characteristics of sustainable
materials, products, and systems. The certification process places a
major emphasis on the human and ecological health impacts of a product’s
ingredients, as well as on the ability of that product to be truly recycled
or safely composted. The quality of energy used to create a product,
water quantity and quality, and social responsibility also are essential
sustainability characteristics and focus areas in this certification
process.
PolyVision has earned GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality® and
GREENGUARD for Children and Schools™ Certification for all marker
and tack boards manufactured by the company in the U.S. for commercial
and educational environments. These certifications by the GREENGUARD
Environmental Institute (GEI) assure customers that the PolyVision products
they are using support a healthy indoor air environment and do not emit
harmful chemicals.
Although there are presently no specific standards
in the U.S. for environmentally-responsible technology products, PolyVision
meets the rigorous standards for content pursuant to the Reduction of
Hazardous Substances Act (RoHS) for all our technology products sold
in Europe. Compliance with RoHS assures customers that heavy metals and
other substances of concern have been eliminated from RoHS certified
products. This standard is now being extended to all other markets where
these models are sold, including the U.S.
PolyVision
has also earned the Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance
ISO 14001 Certificate of Approval. This recognition certifies that
the Environmental Management System of the PolyVision manufacturing
facility in Genk, Belgium,
has been approved to the standards of ISO 14001. The Environmental
Management System is applicable to research and development, production,
distribution and sales of products manufactured in a continuous
enamelling process of thin gauge steel; also, screen-printing and
firing of enamel pastes. The most important applications are products
for visual communication and wall cladding.
