Milan High School, Milan, Michigan
Milan High School teacher, Cindy Hasselbring, was recognized by President George W. Bush as one of the top educators in the nation. Hasselbring was one of just two teachers in the state of Michigan awarded this Presidential Distinction for Excellence in Mathematics. Only 100 teachers were selected nationwide for consideration.
Cindy was also recognized by PolyVision for her outstanding contribution to education and her use of PolyVision’s Walk and Talk Interactive Whiteboard in her classroom. When asked “What is your vision for the classroom of the future?” Cindy stated, “I see my students having technology at their desks, and being involved. That would be a huge improvement to education.”
When asked “How has the Walk-and-Talk Interactive Whiteboard assisted you as a teacher?” Cindy answered, “I use it to teach every day. I feel technology allows me to get to a point faster. For example, when I teach the Pythagorean theorem, instead of having to draw the triangle and plot it out, it is already drawn for me in the program. Therefore, I spend less time repeating a process. With students text messaging, instant messaging, and using their i-pods all at the same time, they are used to being tuned in.”
