PolyVision Receives Coveted GREENGUARD™ Children and Schools™ Certification for Marker and Tack Boards
Certified products offer a healthier option for children in schools and daycare facilities

Suwanee, GA (August 14, 2006) – PolyVision Corporation, a Steelcase Company (NYSE:SCS) and the world leader in visual communication products, today announced GREENGUARD™ Children and Schools™ Certification for all marker and tack boards manufactured by PolyVision in the U.S. This coveted certification by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) provides third-party verification that PolyVision products support a healthy indoor air environment specifically for children in K-12 and daycare facilities.

Children are more susceptible to exposure of environmental toxins because they consume more food and water and have higher inhalation rates per pound of body weight than adults. Recent research by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) indicates that inhalation is a significant route of exposure to chemicals that are associated with endocrine disorders, reproductive and developmental toxicity, asthma, and allergies. Due to these factors, the GEI has established strict controls to define low-emitting materials specifically for educational and learning/play environments for young children.

“PolyVision is extremely pleased to be the first and only manufacturer in the industry to become GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certified,” said Mike Dunn, President and CEO of PolyVision. “In this day and age we understand so much more about all the characteristics that go into leading a healthy lifestyle. It’s no longer just an added bonus to incorporate healthy products into environments where children spend 8 - 12 hours of their day – it’s a necessity. Given a choice, why wouldn’t facilities choose products that are best for the health of kids?”

To become GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certified, PolyVision engaged in multiple indoor air quality examinations during which emissions testing was performed on all products in each certification category to determine that the products comply with the emissions level set. This process is ongoing and PolyVision will undergo quarterly and annual confirmation testing of all products represented in each certification category.

"PolyVision's commitment to GREENGUARD Certification is yet another example of its leadership in supporting learning environments and high performance schools," said Carl Smith, CEO of GREENGUARD.  "For those school districts that actively consider the health and well-being of students when making product purchasing decisions, PolyVision provides them a clear choice."

PolyVision’s GREENGUARD Certified Products for Children and Schools include the entire line of Education Series and Commercial Series marker and tack boards.
